- To improve our service and develop new features
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide our platform. For the specific subset of these providers that receive YouTube or Google user data obtained via OAuth, see Section 5.4 below.
- Google OAuth: For authentication (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
- Stripe: For payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
- OpenAI: For AI-powered article generation (subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy)
- AssemblyAI: For video transcription (subject to AssemblyAI's Privacy Policy)
- Cloudflare R2: For temporary video storage
- Neon: For database hosting
- Upstash: For Redis queue management

5. YouTube API Services
Vidpipe uses YouTube API Services to allow you to connect a YouTube channel that you own and to discover its newly published videos for article generation. By using these features, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Limited Use disclosure. Vidpipe.ai's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5.1 Scope We Request
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly— read-only access used solely to enumerate the YouTube channels you own or manage so you can pick one to connect.
5.2 Data We Access and Store
- Accessed: Your YouTube channel ID, channel name, channel handle, and channel thumbnail URL — fetched once via
channels.list?mine=trueat the moment you verify ownership. - Stored: When you choose a channel and click Connect, only that channel's ID, name, handle, and thumbnail URL are stored on Vidpipe alongside a flag marking it as ownership-verified. The OAuth access token is discarded immediately after verification — we do not persist, refresh, or reuse it.
- Public video metadata: Once a channel is connected, Vidpipe periodically reads the channel's public RSS feed to detect newly published videos. No private YouTube data is accessed.
- Not accessed: Vidpipe does not access your videos' private metadata, comments, viewer data, analytics, playlists, subscriptions, or any other YouTube account data outside the channel-list call described above.
5.3 Revoking Access
You can revoke Vidpipe's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. You can also disconnect a channel from inside Vidpipe at any time on the Channels page; doing so removes the stored channel record and stops further polling.
5.4 Sharing of YouTube and Google User Data
We share YouTube and Google user data only with the following service providers, and only as required to operate the channel-connection feature:
- Neon (database) — stores your connected channel's ID, name, handle, thumbnail URL, and ownership-verified flag. No other YouTube data is persisted.
- Vercel (frontend hosting) and DigitalOcean (backend processing) — process requests that include the stored channel record, encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.
- AI generation providers (via OpenRouter) — when article generation runs on a public video from your connected channel, the publicly available text of that video is sent through OpenRouter to Anthropic (primary) or OpenAI to generate the article and related outputs. Per both providers' API terms, content submitted via the API is not used to train their models.
We do not share YouTube or Google user data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or any other third parties. The OAuth access token obtained during channel verification is never shared — it is discarded in memory immediately after the one-time channels.list?mine=true call.
5.5 Limitations on Use of Google User Data
In addition to the Limited Use commitment above, we specifically affirm that:
- We do not sell Google user data.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising of any kind, including retargeting, personalized advertising, or interest-based advertising.
- We do not use Google user data to train AI or machine learning models, and our AI subprocessors (Anthropic and OpenAI, accessed via OpenRouter) are bound by API terms that likewise prohibit using submitted data for model training.
- We do not transfer Google user data to data brokers or other aggregators.
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data except where (a) we have your affirmative consent, (b) it is necessary for security purposes, (c) it is necessary to comply with applicable law, or (d) the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
5.6 Retention and Deletion of YouTube and Google User Data
- Connected channel records (ID, name, handle, thumbnail, verification flag) are retained until you disconnect the channel via the Channels page or revoke access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. On disconnect the channel record is deleted immediately and polling stops.
- Transcripts and articles derived from public videos on connected channels are retained alongside the article in your Vidpipe library. They are deleted when you delete the article or your account.
- OAuth access tokens are never persisted — discarded in memory after the one-time channel-list call at verification time.
6. Data Storage and Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
- Uploaded videos are deleted after transcription to minimize storage
- Database access is restricted and monitored
- Regular security audits and updates
7. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active
- Generated Articles: Stored indefinitely unless you delete them
- Uploaded Videos: Deleted immediately after transcription
- Payment Records: Retained for 7 years for tax/legal compliance
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
- Data Portability: Export your generated content
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (we don't send marketing emails by default)
